DePaul University Art Museum Acquisition

June 22, 2016

DePaul University Art Museum has recently acquired one of three early paintings from a Project Regarding Perennial Time which is based on watching a hydrangea shrub during seasons in Chicago since Fall 1999.

Fun facts about this piece: (i) it presents Marie’s direct observation of the exact colors each day of a hydrangea flower bleached by the sun through the summer and fall until January and February; (ii) within the project, it presents “research” that was fundamental to our formation of ideas of what perennial time looks like; and (iii) Marie made the marks on the piece.
