For Real

August 10, 2006

Hyde Park Art Center, 2006

For Real was another important exhibition for Cream Co. as it solidified our countercultural role as artist/curator/participant and helped us refine our role as “social sculpture” artists – this form of art has caught on and is now called “social practice”. For this exhibition we split a gallery into two spaces: an administrative side and a gallery side and we converted a storage area into a performance space. We hung our work in the museum room, held free lunch Fridays and chess events and wrote and performed with public participants a surprise murder mystery party – the Human Chess Game.
