Basilpalooza: Herbs for Words

Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago August, 2015. A living herb scent-sampler, 14 varieties of basil seedlings and three multi-purpose exchange stations transformed the MCA plaza into a site for community exchange and performance. In the center of downtown Chicago, General Economy, Exquisite Exchange (G.E.E.E.) took form as a place to pause, to share experience with unknown neighbors, and as an expansive architectural sculpture including living plants and eager participants.

Visitors found space and time to take a moment, to leave a note, and to smell the basil.

Herbs and words invite impromptu improvisation.

A place to write, time to trade.

Multi-Purpose Exchange Station, part-bench, part-table, part scent-sampler. Living plants, found objects and drawing.
